St. Peter's Anniversary Celebration and Cookout

Join us for ONE SERVICE at 10AM, followed by a (quick!) tour of the Cathedral spaces ending on the North Lawn for burgers, hot dogs, drinks, games, and fellowship!

What are we exploring?

Get to know Cathedral Staff and where they work, along with ALL that really happens in each space. It’s probably more than you think!

What are we celebrating?

St. Peter’s is 17! But more importantly, God has done incredible things through the ministry of St. Peter’s over the last seventeen years. Yes, there have been challenging moments, but God has been gracious to us and continued to impact each of us and those around us!

What are we looking forward to?

The future (obviously)! We have big ideas for how God might continue to use St. Peter’s to expand the Kingdom of Heaven and impact our community and world with the transforming love of Jesus Christ!

Freddy is currently the Executive Director of the Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO), a faith-based anti-poverty and economic opportunity resource serving at-risk families and individuals in the Big Bend area since 1981. Freddy brings an employer-led business perspective to the social services arena and believes in the value of adding the strengths and networks of the private sector to the efforts of non-profit service providers as collaborators and partners, not just as charitable donors.

The Alzheimer’s Project is a non-profit organization funded by grants and private donations, and many of the services are delivered through volunteers. Our Day Respite Program and other support services help caregivers stay physically and emotionally healthy. We also deliver professional knowledge through seminars, training classes and peer support groups.

One of our main goals is to help caregivers sustain a healthy quality of life as they care for their loved one and to provide a comfortable, dignified, quality of life for people living with dementia.  In many cases our support helps delay the institutionalization of those living with the disease.  Services are provided free of charge, donations for services are encouraged.

Men's Breakfast

Thursday, June 3 at 6:45am

Bring a cup of coffee and join us in the Parish Hall where the Men’s Ministry Council will have a bagged breakfast from Chick-fil-A waiting for you. Enjoy your bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, hash browns, and fruit cup along with fellowship and an inspiring message from Randy Nicklaus, President of 2-1-1 Big Bend.

RSVP is a MUST to reserve your $5 Chick-Fil-A breakfast…. or you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring cash or check for your reserved breakfast the morning of the Men’s Breakfast.

About Our Guest Speaker, Randy Nicklaus

Jesus once said that whatever we do to the least of our neighbors, we do to Him. ... All of us are called to be servants of Christ in our own ways. Simple acts of kindness like giving food to the homeless or helping old people cross the street – all these things will greatly please the Lord.

Just as you would call 9-1-1 for emergencies, you can call 2-1-1 for human service information and assistance.

Randy Nicklaus is celebrating his 36th year as the President of 2-1-1 Big Bend. He has cultivated the 2-1-1 Big Bend into a service organization that helps the least of our neighbors.

2-1-1 Big Bend provides 24-hours-a-day crisis hotline services for the Big Bend region and it operates two statewide hotlines – the Florida HIV/AIDS Hotline and the Family Health Line. It also serves as the local crisis center in the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. Other programs include Help Me Grow and the Florida Veteran’s Support Line. The agency is the community’s key clearinghouse for information and referral to all human services in the eight-county Big Bend region. 2-1-1 Big Bend received The Chamber Award as the Non-Profit of the Year in 2013.

Randy earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1977. In 1978 he moved to Tallahassee and entered FSU. At FSU Randy earned two master’s degrees in Higher Education, and Counseling and Human Systems. Randy is a member of Leadership Tallahassee (Class 9). Randy is the current board secretary and past president of the Florida Alliance of Information and Referral Services. Randy is the past president of Sunrise Rotary Club (2015-16). He has been happily married to Miriam Nicklaus for more than 36 years and they have two grown children and one cat.

He and his team help you navigate through the maze of community services in a nonjudgmental manner so you can serve the least of our neighbors. Because life is 24/7, so is 2-1-1!
