Wednesday Nights | Prayerbook 101: An Introduction to the Book of Common Prayer

  • St. Peter's Cathedral 4784 Thomasville Road Tallahassee, FL (map)

Led by Fr. Jonathan Kanary & Fr. Michael Petty

Modern Christianity is too often guilty of rushing past the law to get to grace.  While the law was given, in part, to reveal God’s holy nature and sovereignty and to reveal how disastrously short men and woman fall from God’s holiness, we now tend to avoid this.  Fear of offending modern people (and ourselves), however, leads to something far worse which is offending God.  A small view of God results in a small view of grace and a small view of grace is fatal to the Chrisitan life.  We are called to seek God’s face, the very face we cannot bear to see and still live as sinners.  Our God is a “consuming fire” and only as we begin to understand this will we begin to understand the magnitude of grace.
