Cathedral Tour

Perhaps you have attended numerous services and admired the beauty of the cathedral, but have you considered taking a tour, or even inviting a friend or neighbor to join you for a tour? Tours are given on the second Saturday of each month at 10am.

You can learn about the symbolism of the West end of the building, the architectural details of the spires and crosses, why the construction took 2 years instead of 200, why the older cathedrals took hundreds of years to build, learn about the narthex, why the baptismal font is almost always at the west end, why the floor is supported by the prayers of the people, why the pews are the most expensive wood you will ever sit on, symbolism of the poppyheads on the ends of the pew, symbolism of the nave, roof, and roof support system, how and why Robert Mullins made the crucifix, learn about symbolism of the altar, pulpit, tester over the pulpit, and lectern, learn about the statues made by Granda Liturgical in Spain, the stained glass windows made by Wippell & Co. Glass in Britain, how the stain glass windows are protected, the stations of the cross, the Cathedral organ and why the pulpit has a trap door.

So, consider taking a tour and learning everything you would like to know about your Cathedral.

St. Peter's Anniversary Celebration and Cookout

Join us for ONE SERVICE at 10AM, followed by a (quick!) tour of the Cathedral spaces ending on the North Lawn for burgers, hot dogs, drinks, games, and fellowship!

What are we exploring?

Get to know Cathedral Staff and where they work, along with ALL that really happens in each space. It’s probably more than you think!

What are we celebrating?

St. Peter’s is 17! But more importantly, God has done incredible things through the ministry of St. Peter’s over the last seventeen years. Yes, there have been challenging moments, but God has been gracious to us and continued to impact each of us and those around us!

What are we looking forward to?

The future (obviously)! We have big ideas for how God might continue to use St. Peter’s to expand the Kingdom of Heaven and impact our community and world with the transforming love of Jesus Christ!

Liturgy 101

Liturgy 101

Monday, 15 November, 6:30pm

Are you interested in learning more about St. Peter’s and why we do the things we do here?  Liturgy 101 provides the opportunity for the clergy of St. Peter’s to explain all the particulars of a typical Sunday worship service in detail, including a display of pieces used during the Eucharist and baptism, as well as vestments worn by Priests, the Bishop, Lay Eucharistic Ministers, and Vergers. Liturgy 101 is a time to learn the why and how of the Anglican faith and tradition and ask questions. For example, what are people doing before the Gospel reading on their forehead, lips, and heart? Why do the priests wear different color stoles at different times of the year?

Join us in the Nave of the church to find out the answer to these questions, as well as much, much more!

No need to register, but childcare is only available upon request.  Contact Amy Cooksey at Amy@StPetersFL.com with any questions.
