Pathway 2: Scripture and Christian Doctrine
As Anglicans, we read the Old Testament as part of worship every Sunday and we read through it once a year as part of Morning and Evening Prayer. However, many of us can struggle to understand the Old Testament. Some common barriers to our understanding lie in our misconceptions about the nature of Scripture in general but can also be based on the differences between 21st century Western culture and ancient Jewish culture. In this class, we will be laying out a structure that will deepen our understanding of the entirety of Scripture and help us see God’s saving work throughout the Old and New Testaments. This class aims to help participants build a framework to better see the “big picture” of God’s saving work throughout all of history.
The textbook for this class, Sandra Richter’s The Epic of Eden, will be available in St. Peter’s Bookstore.
