The Apostolic Fathers
Taught by Deacon Justin Hughes
Our Anglican tradition reaches back through many centuries of Christian faith and practice. We are mostly familiar with some high points—the New Testament, St. Augustine, Martin Luther, and the English Reformation. But a tradition isn’t passed along from one mountain peak to the next. It is passed along from one generation to the next. The Apostolic fathers are the generation of Christian leaders, thinkers, and writers who knew and were taught by Jesus’ disciples themselves. Are you interested in the very beginning of our classical Christian tradition? Join this course to learn about the very beginnings of our ancient faith. Participants will read Early Christian Writings: The Apostolic Fathers, edited by Andrew Louth and translated by Maxwell Staniforth.
